OUR HISTORY

Years ago, forward-thinking Texas Baptists envisioned a thriving church located on what was then cow pastures in Southern Tarrant County. While at that time there were no roads, houses or businesses, those visionaries knew the land would one day be home to thousands of families. That vision materialized in Alsbury Baptist Church, the result of the collective work of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, the Southwest Metroplex Baptist Association, Cana Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church, both of Burleson.

After thirty-six years of ministry the people of Calvary believed God was leading them to begin a mission in the rapidly growing area of North Burleson. With the combined leadership of Mike Lowery, Pastor of Cana Baptist, and Calvary Pastor Scott Sharman, they left a small, secluded facility and purchased five acres of land on the 500 block of Northeast Alsbury Blvd., a major artery running through the rapidly growing area of North Burleson.

On October 23, 1994, seventy people conducted their first worship service in the gymnasium of Taylor Elementary School. God quickly blessed their obedience, leading many people without any significant church background to Alsbury.

Twenty-six months later the people of Alsbury moved into a 9,300 square foot facility. Attendance quickly outgrew the space and a second morning service was provided. Today, three weekend worship services and two discipleship sessions are offered to accommodate continued growth.

In the summer of 2006 a new long range vision was launched. Building on Faith is a campaign to develop the rest of the existing property with almost 80,000 square feet of worship, discipleship and fellowship space. The first phase of this plan begun in December of 2009 with the construction of a new parking area. Complete plans are currently displayed in our worship center.

Alsbury Baptist Church is the product of years of preparation and prayer. God continues to bless beyond what anyone could have asked or imagined. Come see what so many have experienced for themselves in the ministry of Alsbury Baptist.
